PETER CAMPBELL On his first day of class as a 3rd grader in a new school, future operatic bass, Peter Campbell, put his hand over his heart and said the Pledge of Allegiance aloud with all the other students. Everyone turned and stared at this boy with the freakishly deep voice. He has been on stage ever since. At first he ventured into acting, studying Character with Stella Adler in the 1980s. Ultimately, he found a home in opera, performing major roles, including Mephistopheles (Faust), both Don Giovanni and Leporello (Don Giovanni), Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro), and Don Basilio (Il barbieri di Siviglia). These days, Mr. Campbell performs solely for the sheer joy of performing.
